Travelling and protecting the orangutan

Photograph: Orangutan Odyssees

The orangutan is not only one of the most charismatic mammal species on the face of Planet Earth, it is also one of the most endangered ones. Huge parts of their natural habitat are or have already been devastated, largely due to the erection of huge oil palm plantations. But luckily there still are some people who are willing to dedicate their professional and private lives to the protection of one of our closest relatives. A good example is the Trans Borneo Fundraiser, an effort from Orangutan Odysseys that is mainly focused on sustainable ecotourism. So if you have an adventurous attitude, love expeditions in remote, unspoilt areas which are still dominated by the many marvels of pristine nature and want to contribute to the long-term survival of the charismatic red apes, the Borneo Orangutan Survival Odyssey could be the experience for you. To attain more information, just surf to the Orangutan Odysseys website.
